Marriages don’t just suddenly fail. It happens over a period of time. Over time negativity seeps into the relationship often unnoticed until it has become a humongous problem. As believers most husbands and wives know the scriptures. Husband love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her. Wives, submit or respect your husbands; and finality submit to one another.
Loving each other the way the bible tells us in the 13 th Chapter of 1 st Corinthians becomes more and more elusive as the faults of your partner seem to take more and more center stage.
Here’s what often happens. One or the other of the partners begin to exhibit negative behavior patterns. This creates an atmosphere where the other partner or spouse responds negatively to that negativity. The conversation toward each other is negative, often demeaning and rude escalating with each passing day. Pride sets in and no one wants to take responsibility for the part they are playing in the continued conflict. Christians often forget that the battle is not against their spouse but the true enemy which is the devil.
If reading that makes you uncomfortable, take heart. Remember, greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. You have power over the enemy and your marriage can definitely recover. Yes, counseling may be necessary to help, but that’s ok. The scripture says, there is safety in counseling. It’s not too late, you can have a happy marriage again.
